Scheduling: The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans

The greatest endurance race on earth takes place next weekend with the 24 Hours of Le Mans! British Eurosport have their usual extensive coverage which begins on Monday 8th June, covering practice, qualifying and the race itself. This is the only race in the World Endurance Championship season that Motors TV do not cover, with Eurosport screening the race exclusively live. Saying that, Quest TV, which like Eurosport is owned by Discovery Networks, will be covering the start and the end of the race live on their channel.

There is a half hour portion which Eurosport will not be covering live from 20:00 to 20:30 on the Saturday due to cycling highlights. As in previous years, Martin Haven leads Eurosport’s coverage, with a range of voices including Mark Shaw, Jeremy Shaw, Tom Gaymor and Liz Halliday also involved in their coverage. For those of you that watch overnight, you’ll be happy to hear that you are guaranteed a full service with the news that TV cameras will be active for the entire 24 hours.

  1. For me it’s TOTALLY unacceptable for 30mins of the race to not be shown just so they can show some highlights of some cycling. Nobody in their right mind can say that’s acceptable. Live action should ALWAYS take priority over highlights.

    • Really its not a missing half hour as their is a 24 minutes catch up show- which at 8pm for anyone who missed the first 6 hours is perfectly acceptable.

The ads on Eurosport annoy me. I have radiolemans on to complement the pictures.

      • It is missing half an hour of live race coverage as they’re showing Le Mans 24 Minutes. That’s not live race coverage, that’s basically a bit of highlights, bit of chatter while not really watching the race itself. The fact that during every other ‘Le Mans 24 Minutes’ show they move the live race coverage to the other channel tells you that you ARE missing 30mins of live action, and I’m sorry but you cannot tell me that highlights of anything should take priority over live coverage of anything.

  2. While this obviously focusses on the TV schedule, there is also the massively in depth coverage provided by radiolemans.com for each session and scrutineering.

  3. There’s a catch up show on Quest TV between 07.00 – 08.00, showing highlights of the evening session and coverage from the live race. As noted above the final hour will be shown on Quest TV and Eurosport.
