Scheduling: The 2017 Italian Grand Prix

The 2017 Formula One season heads to the last stop on the European calendar, the Italian Grand Prix! The race will air live on Sky Sports F1 and their Main Event channel, with highlights on Channel 4. After this round, the next highlights programme for Channel 4 is not until Japan, with both Singapore and Malaysia live on free-to-air television.

On the Sky side of things, Johnny Herbert is back with the team, having been absent since the Canadian Grand Prix back in June. Also on Sky, as noted last week, is a new show called The Inside Line. The show, produced by Inverleigh, airs on other Sky channels around the world, so it is probably little surprise to see it turn up on the UK version.

  1. Also INDYCAR is streaming most of their non-race coverage on Racecontrol.INDYCAR.com. During television broadcasts, the Web site goes to radio coverage of the race, which uses the station-to-station style that Barney Hall (NASCAR) and Paul Page (INDYCAR) made into a form of art that NASCAR’s primary network, MRN, used to cover Watkins Glen in the 1970’s. (For the USGP at The Glen when MRN covered the race on radio, now NASCAR Hall of Fame member Ken Squier was lead commentator with current motorsport commentator Mike Joy covering as a sectional commentator. Though no longer available on the Web site, MRN had covered The Glen and it was a beauty listening to a 20-something Joy doing just one section of the track.)

Mark Jaynes and Davey Hamilton lead radio coverage.

Here is the streaming coverage (INDYCAR Race Control) (courtesy INDYCAR.COM):

    Friday (Times UK time)
    1430 Pro Mazda FP1
    1515 Verizon Series FP1
    1800 USF2000 FP2
    1845 Mazda MX-5 Cup FP2
    1930 Pro Mazda R1 Qualifications
    2005 Verizon Series FP2
    2125 Indy Lights FP1

    Saturday
    1345 Indy Lights FP2
    1430 Mazda MX-5 Cup Race
    1530 Verizon Series FP3
    1630 Pro Mazda Race 1
1815 USF2000 Race (final race of season)
    1915 Indy Lights Qualifying
    2000 Verizon Series Qualifying
    2130 Mazda MX-5 Cup Race 2

NOTE: Because of NASCAR Monster Energy Cup and Xfinity Florence round qualifying and race coverage on NBC Sports Network, the Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying will not air live. This means Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying will air live on INDYCAR.COM with radio commentators.

    Sunday
1255 Pro Mazda Race 2 (final race of season)
    1400 Verizon Series warmup
1550 Indy Lights Race (final race of season)

NOTE: The Verizon Series race will have free radio streaming coverage at 1800 on Race Control.

  2. Someone should get a BT Sport producer sacked. reason, the TV guide said that BT sport were covering the race from 6.30pm to 1.30am. however the race started at 6.00pm and that is unfair to the viewers on BT Sport and proper organisation needs to be done quickly.
